Taping is generally used for additional security, when fast or cross country riding. If a strap breaks, or becomes undone, a loose boot could slip down restricting the horse's movement or cause them to trip or fall.
Securely fit the cross country boots at the correct tension and height.
Starting from the top strap, place the electrical tape (waterproof tape) against the boot, following the same direction as the strap.
Wrap the electrical tape around the boot.
The tape should not be fitted tighter than the boot.
Cut, or rip, the tape once it has been wrapped all the way around the boot. Press down to secure.
Repeat steps 2 – 4 on the second strap.
Continue steps 2 – 4 until all the straps are taped.
