Once you have completed Lungeing the Horse you will be able to:

  1. Discuss the values of lungeing, when used for: 

    • exercise. 

    • training or educational purposes.

    • improving behaviour. 

    • building a relationship and bond with the horse.

    • assessing the horse from the ground.

    • relaxation.

    • pole work and jumping. 

    • improving the horse's muscular frame. 

    • varying the horse's routine. 

    • veterinary purposes. 

    • rider purposes. 

  2. Explain the reasons when lungeing may not be suitable to perform.

  3. Talk about the impact of different lungeing styles, including:

    • positioning & body language of the handler.

    • the training area.

    • equipment & training aids.

  4. Progress the horse's training on the lunge using: 

    • ground poles. 

    • transitions. 

    • circle size. 

    • lengthening and shortening of the horse’s stride. 

  5. Discuss, observe and improve the horse's paces. 

  6. Describe and improve the horse's way of going on the lunge. 

  7. Analyse the horse's work after the lungeing session.
